DUBAI: A fun Pokémon trading card game (TCG) was held at Dubai’s Magrudy bookshop on June 1, gathering families along with their children to learn about the basics of the game of ‘Pokémon TCG: My First Battle.’
Pokémon TCG is collectible card game developed by Japanese video game company Creatures Inc. The company has released multiple decks of the game, including, but not limited to, ‘Pokémon TCG: My First Battle’.
Two versions of the game have been released, one featuring Pikachu and Bulbasaur, while the other features Charmander and Squirtle.
The decks offer a highly simplified version of the Pokémon TCG rules, allowing younger players to learn the basics. The fundamentals of the game, such as attacking, benching, evolving Pokémon, and using item cards, are present, but more complicated concepts are omitted.
Karl Lal, director of Active Gulf, the official distributor of Pokémon TCG, commented on the event to Arab News Japan, saying, “The goal was to provide a safe place where people can try the game. Many of the visitors knew of the product, but were not aware of how to play. This event allowed people to have that opportunity to get a feel of what the game is.”
Each box of the game contains two mini decks of 17 cards each, two playmats, a rulebook, a large metallic coin, a sheet of damage counters, and six Prize tokens. Additionally, all cards have a unique “My First Battle” back design.
