DUBAI: The latest feature of the iconic Detective Conan franchise, ‘Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram’, premiered on May 28 at Dubai’s Vox Cinemas at Nakheel Mall and was packed with fans who were ecstatic to watch the famous character solving cases on the big screen.

The movie follows Conan and Heiji Hattori as they investigate a stolen sword from a wealthy family from Hakodate. The film has sold 9.77 million tickets and earned 14.01 billion yen in its 45 days of screening in Japan. It is now the highest-grossing film in the franchise, beating last year’s ‘Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine’ earnings of 13.83 billion yen.

‘Detective Conan’ is now the first Japanese-animated movie franchise to have two consecutive films pass 10 billion yen in earnings in Japan.

The premiere was organized by Spacetoon Pictures, where it was announced that the upcoming episodes of ‘Detective Conan’ will be available exclusively on Spacetoon Go in  Japanese and Arabic dubbing shortly after their release in Japan.

In advance of its release in cinemas, Spacetoon released the introductory film ‘Detective Conan vs. Kid the Phantom Thief’, which contains footage from episodes featuring the confrontation between Conan and Kaitou Kid.

“We are getting a movie with an amazing story every year,” said digital creator Bibi Zumot. “We have grown up with Detective Conan since it was featured on Spacetoon TV in the early 2000’s and we are still watching it and enjoying the events and excitement in the series.”

“The movie was enjoyable and filled with a lot of excitement. I recommend ‘Detective Conan fans in the region to watch it,” he added.

The film is now available in theatres across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Iraq in the original Japanese language with Arabic & English subtitles.
