2024 Chevy Blazer EV Sales Restart With Major Price Cuts

Chevrolet bet big on electric vehicles and the decision has been backfiring spectacularly. One of the biggest embarrassments was the Blazer EV, which suffered a disastrous launch that was plagued by software issues and a stop-sale order.

The bowtie brand is now looking to right the wrongs with “significant software updates that will improve features and functionality” as well as “address concerns heard from some early owners.” Besides fixing key issues, the updates will add revised instrument cluster graphics and a few other touches.

While the latter aren’t particularly exciting, Chevrolet has decided to resume sales as they’re confident the software update will address the crossover’s various issues. Only time will tell, but sales have been paused since December.

Speaking of sales, Chevrolet has decided to slash prices by a significant margin. The LT AWD now starts at $50,195 and that’s a huge savings compared to its previous price of $56,715. The RS AWD falls from $60,215 to $54,595 while the RS RWD drops from $61,790 to $56,170.

Those are significant reductions and the price cut helps to put some much needed distance between the Blazer EV and the Cadillac Lyriq, which begins at $58,590. It’s also worth noting those prices are before the $7,500 federal tax credit and an even more affordable variant is on the horizon.

As a quick refresher, all-wheel drive models have an 85 kWh battery pack as well as a dual-motor powertrain with 288 hp (215 kW / 292 PS) and 333 lb-ft (451 Nm) of torque. The RS RWD adopts a larger 102 kWh battery and this increases the range from 279 miles (449 km) to 324 miles (521 km). The rear-wheel drive model also has an increased output of 340 hp (254 kW / 345 PS) and 325 lb-ft (440 Nm) of torque.

Additional variants are coming including a front-wheel drive model and a range-topping SS. The latter is slated to have a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with 557 hp (415 kW / 565 PS) and 648 lb-ft (878 Nm) of torque.
