Netflix made its name in part by being the definitive home for movies (after it stole that title from Blockbuster Video). Lest we forget, years before it got into the streaming business and revolutionized how we watch stuff, Netflix was mailing people DVDs of movies straight to their homes.
Now that Netflix is streaming content exclusively, though, it’s got a pretty impressive library of titles for subscribers to choose from. Those titles range from rom-coms to animated series to some of the best shows released in recent years, but finding them and sifting through all the less-popular titles can be a real challenge. Luckily, we’re here to recommend the three best shows on Netflix to check out this weekend.
Lupin (2021-)
Although it was a small-scale phenomenon when it was first released, Lupin has since faded from the spotlight in part because of the language barrier for American audiences. The series, which follows a French gentleman thief and master of disguise as he pulls off one heist after another, is a retelling of one of the most famous French stories, and is thrilling in part for the ways it modernizes and changes that story.
Over the course of three seasons, the show has maintained its overall excellence, with lead actor Omar Sy giving a charismatic performance as the stylish and slippery thief. If you never watched the later seasons, or if you never started the show at all, now is the perfect time to give it a chance.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (2023)
Featuring a totally distinct and appropriate animation style and all-star talent like Michael Cera, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is one of the best ways to while away a Saturday afternoon.

Never Have I Ever (2020-2023)
This teenage comedy about a young, difficult girl coming of age and finding love is one of the sharpest and funniest shows that Netflix has ever released. The series follows Devi, a brilliant student at her California high school who finds herself torn between the popular guy at her school and an academic rival.
Ultimately, though, the series is about so much more than her love life, and tackles themes of grief and stumbling toward adulthood. When the show came to its end after four seasons, one of the most gratifying things to see was Devi simply deciding to get out of her own way.
