Saudi Arabia executes 4 expatriates for murder and robbery.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Feb 1: In a recent development, Saudi Arabia confirmed the execution of four Ethiopian expatriates charged with the murder of a Sudanese national. According to the Saudi Interior Ministry, the individuals were convicted of jointly bludgeoning and fatally stabbing the victim after restraining him by tying his hands and feet. The motive behind the murder was not disclosed.

In addition to the murder charges, the convicts were found guilty of engaging in mugging, attempting murder, and robbing others at gunpoint. Following thorough investigations, they were brought before a competent court, which convicted them of serious crimes, including intimidating others by attacking them and seizing their belongings. The verdict received confirmation from appeals and supreme courts and was ultimately endorsed by a royal order, rendering it irrevocable. The executions were carried out in Riyadh on Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia maintains the application of the death penalty in cases involving murder, terror attacks, drug smuggling, and trafficking. This execution follows a similar incident in December, where two expatriates were executed after being convicted of murdering a man in a financial dispute. The Bangladeshi nationals lured the Indian citizen into a car, strangled him with a piece of cloth, and fatally used insecticide on him. In an attempt to conceal the crime, they buried the victim’s body, but law enforcement successfully apprehended them.
