HILLSBORO, Mo. – A Jefferson County man is facing sex crime charges for a July 2021 rape.
According to a probable cause statement filed by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the rape occurred on July 6, 2021.
Investigators claim the victim told them Jason S. Voepel asked her multiple times to have sex and she told him “no” each time. Voepel began undressing her and she screamed for him to get off of her.
Voepel is accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with the victim and forcing himself on her. The victim said she tried to push Voepel off of her but could not due to their size differences.
The victim said Voepel did not stop until he completed a sexual act.
The victim told investigators she later confronted Voepel about the rape in person and in text messages. She provided authorities with screenshots of messages accusing Voepel of rape, and his reply, “i messed up and i realize it and i’m apologizing.” A witness confirmed the victim confronted Voepel in person and that he confessed and apologized for raping the victim.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Voepel with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, and first-degree sexual abuse. A warrant for his arrest was issued on Friday, February 2.
