Ahead of the cinematic release of Marvel’s Madame Web today (14 February) Sydney Sweeney revealed the on-set accident that caused filming to temporarily stop.
ICYMI, Sydney stars alongside Dakota Johnson in new Marvel movie Madame Web, which tells the story of Cassie Webb (Johnson) who has psychic abilities to see the future and uses her powers to help protect three young women from a deadly adversary.
Sydney plays one of these young women, Julia Cornwall, and as part of her role she wears a strawberry blonde wig.
However, while the wig may have helped Sydney get into character, it certainly wasn’t the easiest thing to film in.
When asked who on the cast took the longest to get ready, Sydney quickly admitted it was herself while speaking to Cosmopolitan UK because of the process of getting the wig on every day.
She also revealed the wig once lead to her over heating and then vomiting, which caused filming to stop.
“I had a wig so it was a whole other process. And that wig was so hot we were filming in Boston in the middle of the summer,” she said. “It was one of the hottest days and we were in the middle of filming and I go ‘One second’ and I turn around and I just started throwing up and then I turn back and I go ‘we’re all good we can keep going’. I was overheating, my body was shutting down, but I was great. The wig added a lot of interesting elements.”
Sydney’s co-stars Celeste O’Connor and Isabela Merced, revealed despite Sydney’s insistence she was fine, they stopped filming temporarily to check on Sydney.
Celeste said: “And we were like no we’re not just going to roll right now, but you were ready to rock and roll.” While Isabela jokingly added: “Somehow she made throwing up professional.”
Sydney, Celeste and Isabela star as the three young women Dakota Johnson’s character Cassie helps to evade Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim), who has spider powers and believes the three women have the potential to become spider-women and are a therefore a threat to his existence.
