NEW YORK, Feb 14: Tragedy struck a San Mateo, California, neighborhood as a family of four Indian-Americans was discovered dead in their home, prompting a police investigation into what appears to be a murder-suicide.
Anand Sujith Henry, 42, his wife Alice Priyanka, 40, and their four-year-old twin sons, Noah and Neithan, were found deceased inside their residence on the 4100 block of Alameda de las Pulgas. Authorities responded to a welfare check around 9:15 am Monday after concerns were raised, reported NBC Bay Area.
Upon entering the home through an unlocked window, officers made the grim discovery. The children were found lifeless in a bedroom, showing no signs of physical trauma. Meanwhile, the parents were located in a bathroom, both with gunshot wounds. A 9-millimeter pistol and a loaded magazine were recovered from the scene.
While investigations are ongoing, sources familiar with the case told NBC that the boys may have been smothered, strangled, or given a lethal overdose. Police revealed they had responded to calls from the residence in the past but did not divulge further details.
In a statement, the San Mateo Police assured the community that there was no immediate threat to public safety, deeming the incident isolated. Autopsy results and forensic analysis are pending, with authorities expressing confidence that the perpetrator was among the deceased.
Neighbors described the family as “friendly,” having resided in the neighborhood for over four years. Anand, formerly a Software Engineering Manager at Meta and Google, ventured into entrepreneurship last year, founding an artificial intelligence company named Logits.
Although Anand had initiated divorce proceedings in 2016, records indicate the process was not finalized. The identities of the deceased were confirmed by friends, while official statements from the police are awaited as the investigation unfolds.
