Chiefs Allegedly Blocking Audio from Kelce-Reid Altercation

The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly making sure the general public never finds out exactly what Travis Kelce said to Andy Reid at Super Bowl LVIII.

After the Chiefs’ overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers, NFL Films released mic’d up footage of the game on CW’s Inside the NFL. As noted by New York Post reporter Ryan Glasspiegel, the audio from Kelce’s infamous blow-up with Reid was missing. Instead, Inside the NFL included the Tony Romo’s commentary from CBS’s broadcast.

Sources told the Post the omission wasn’t a coincidence: they believe the Chiefs may have blocked NFL Films from releasing the audio.

When informed of this theory, several other sources told the Post they wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case.

The altercation occurred shortly after the Chiefs turned the ball over in the second quarter. Running back Isiah Pacheco fumbled the ball just yards away from the 49ers’ end zone, and the team failing to score its first points of the game infuriating Kelce. The star tight end was seen screaming at Reid after the turnover. In the heat of the moment, Kelce accidentally bumped Reid and caused him to stumble.

Days later, Kelce explained the situation on his podcast New Heights. While expressing regret for the situation, Kelce said he told Reid to put the ball in his hands and let him be the reason the team wins or loses. In other words, it’s in his competitive nature to want to put the team on his back when they’re struggling.

Kelce’s account of the incident will likely be the only information the public has for the foreseeable future. While the audio exists, the Chiefs may ensure it never sees the light of day.
