Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is almost upon us.
The latest news is it will feature a Fallout collaboration. This ties-in with long-standing rumours Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 has an apocalypse theme.
For a minute, we thought this might be a Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga tie-in. That movie releases on the same day as the next Fortnite season, May 24. Official Fortnite channels have confirmed it, though: Fallout is coming to Fortnite.

A teaser image shows a Fallout Brotherhood of Steel soldier, with a scene of heavy industry equipment playing out underneath.
This suggests Fallout Power Armour will be among the skins/costumes available as part of Season 3. But what else?
Not much, but there are some iconic Fallout weapons that could make it to the game. These include the Fatman mini nuke launcher, laser rifle, Tesla cannon and power fist, a powerful hand-to-hand weapon.
However, as yet we don’t know whether this Fallout x Fortnite collaboration has more to do with the games from Bethesda or the TV show, produced by Amazon Studios.
Either way, this Fortnite collab could give Fallout yet another shot in the arm. The old Fallout games saw a huge surge in popularity after the TV show arrived in early April. Fallout 4’s numbers are on the wane again, according to SteamDB. Time for another injection of interest?
Fallout will just be a strand in Chapter 5 Season 3, though.
The Fortnite X account also teased potential monster truck content, in a social media collaboration with stunt show Monster Jam. Fortnite ads are visible in the real-life footage, which sees one of the giant trucks flying through the air over a bus.
This was followed by another teaser image of silhouette of a person with a punky hair-do and a “nitro drome” arena area, which is where we can picture these monster trucks living.
Is a picture forming yet? Fortnite has a dusty, heavy machinery future ahead, which has already been teased in a “dust storm” trailer.
There are such obvious potential ties to Mad Max here, we wouldn’t be surprised if it gets a Furiosa x Fortnite tie-in this season, even if Fallout has stolen the spotlight for now.
Earlier in May, the Fortnite X account posted the #FortniteC5S3Wrecked hashtag, suggesting Wrecked is the subhead of sorts for this Season. This again points to vehicles having a more significant presence in the next season.
Notable Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR has also posted a preview of what’s expected to be one of the Battle Pass skins. Once again, it cements the idea we’re looking at a rough and ready apocalypse theme where what society remains has devolved into clans.

When does Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 start?
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is likely to begin on May 24. We already know Season 2 will end on May 24. The only reason the next won’t arrive on the same day is if there is significant downtime in the transition period.
It ends at 6pm on May 24, UK time. If the downtime is more than six hours, we’re looking at a May 25 start for Season 3.
