DOHA: Qatar held its first “One Piece” festival from May 9 to 11 to celebrate everything related to the iconic anime and was organized by the Nakama team, Qatar’s first Japanese cultural events community.
Taking place at the Geekdom Building, the event was sponsored by Suzuki Qatar as the platinum sponsor and Snoonu as the silver sponsor.
“This event is dedicated to the anime as a celebration for the fans as the manga is now reaching the final saga. The event had many activities catered to all ages, including festival games, an adventure room, an escape room, local vendors and shops, cafes, pottery classes, and more, all themed around One Piece,” a representative from the Nakama team told Arab News Japan.
“A section of the event was also dedicated to a “One Piece Museum” that features valuable and limited figures and statues, along with the works of local artists to display their artwork,” he added.
The festival had approximately 2,000 visitors over its three-day period. The Japanese ambassador to Qatar, MAEDA Satoshi, attended the event and participated in its activities.
“We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from visitors at the event who enjoyed the diverse offerings and engaging activities,” the representative said.
“The team’s mission is to create an active community that shares a common interest in Japanese culture, including language, history, food, anime, and manga. We have a diverse range of experiences planned with engaging activities and events,” he added.
