Will Edgar, 15, made his debut on ITV’s The Voice Kids on Saturday, July 8, winning the hearts of viewers, ‘Boltonians’ and former McFly star, Danny Jones, who is also from Bolton.
And while his performance on tonight’s finals got him a standing ovation and cheers from the audience, sadly the teenager’s singing journey did not land him the first-place finish.
But Will has certainly made the whole of Bolton proud, with his rendition of Tina Turner’s The Best.
It may have sounded like an odd song choice at the time, but Will blasted out the song with the help of his guitar.
Fellow Boltonian and coach Danny said he saw himself in Will.
He said on the show: “Especially since he was busking around Bolton playing for the people.
“He smashed it.”
Danny saluted his protégé called him amazing for making the song his own.
Judges Will.I.Am, Pixie Lott and Ronan Keating all had nothing but kind words for the talented young singer.
Earlier in the show, Will battled it out to be chosen as Danny’s finalist for the remainder of the singing competition.
Bar Four in The Vaults in the Market Place Shopping Centre, Bolton, hosted a watch-along finals night for the teen’s family, friends and fans.
Having previously hoped for Danny to be the one to turn his chair when auditioning, Will’s dream not only came true, but he also performed a duet with Danny who exclaimed, “Careful, the Bolton boys are here.”
