Former President Trump Summoned by Grand Jury: Latest Twist in Investigation | Wayne Dupree

Former President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday that the Justice Department had informed him that he is a subject of the grand jury investigation that began on January 6 and that he must appear before the jury this week.

Trump wrote, “Deranged Jack Smith, the prosecutor with Joe Biden’s DOJ, sent a letter (again, it was Sunday night!) stating that I am a TARGET of the January 6th Grand Jury investigation, and giving me a very short 4 days to report to the Grand Jury, which almost always means an Arrest and indictment.

Jack Smith, a special counsel, is in charge of looking into how Trump handled sensitive information and whether he tried to have the 2020 election results overturned.

Regarding the alleged improper handling of classified documents, 37 counts have already been brought against Trump. Last month, he entered a not-guilty plea to all charges. In contrast to Smith’s team, who rejected Trump’s request to push back the trial until after the 2024 election, Trump is attempting to postpone the trial. Instead, he wants it to begin in December.

The Justice Department and Attorney General Merrick Garland “have effectively issued a third Indictment and Arrest of Joe Biden’s NUMBER ONE POLITICAL OPPONENT, who is largely dominating him in the race for the Presidency,” according to a tweet from Trump on Tuesday.

In light of the fact that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is looking into the Trump campaign’s attempts to challenge Georgia’s 2020 election results, Trump added that a fourth indictment out of Atlanta is “probable.”

Regarding his alleged participation in a hush-money scheme, Trump is also facing 34 criminal charges in New York.
