DUBAI: Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the latest movie of the Transformers franchise based on Japanese company Takara (now known as Takara Tomy) and American toy company Hasbro’s Transformers toy line premiered in Dubai on June 7 at Reel Cinemas, Dubai Mall.

Venomlogy, talented artist in Dubai told Arab News Japan his feedback of the movie: “This was my first Transformers movie experience in the theaters. I had decent expectations for the movie but it has exceeded my expectations and I really enjoyed the action scenes in it, I hate when people said there is too much human drama in it while it was very balanced where it featured really amazing interactions between the characters in the movie.”

“I’m really excited for the future of the Transformers movie series especially after I saw a major hint at the end of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” he added.

Ian Eleria from Comicave store in Dubai said the “action in the movie was so great.”

Asad Morningstar, a content creator in Dubai, also said the movie had a lot of nostalgia. “The action was so incredible and it was really fun experience, I recommend everyone to watch the movie till the end as there are few surprises that are amazing.”

The movie is the seventh installment in the Transformers live-action movie series. Serving as a standalone sequel to Bumblebee (2018) and prequel to Transformers (2007), the movie was directed by Steven Caple Jr. from a screenplay by Joby Harold, Darnell Metayer, Josh Peters, Erich Hoeber, and Jon Hoeber. It stars Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, as well as the voice talents of Ron Perlman, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, Liza Koshy, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Pete Davidson, Colman Domingo, Cristo Fernández, Tongayi Chirisa, and returning franchise regulars Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime), John DiMaggio (Stratosphere & Transit), and David Sobolov (Rhinox, Battletrap & Apelinq).

Following the critical and commercial success of Bumblebee, Paramount Pictures and Hasbro announced a sequel in early 2019. In November 2020, Caple was hired as director for the film. By 2021, Ramos and Fishback were cast in the lead human roles, and details for the film were revealed that summer in a virtual event held by Paramount. Michael Bay, who directed the first five live-action Transformers films and produced Bumblebee, once again serves as producer. Principal photography took place from June to October 2021, with filming locations including Los Angeles, Peru, Montreal, and New York City.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts had its premiere at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on May 27, 2023, and was theatrically released in the United States on June 9, 2023, by Paramount Pictures. The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised its action sequences, chemistry between its human protagonists, and improvements over the five Bay-directed installments, though criticism was aimed at its climax. The film has grossed so far $193.5 million in the worldwide box office against a production budget of $195–200 million.

In February 2022, Paramount announced that Rise of the Beasts would be the first of three new installments in the Transformers series.
