Investigation Uncovers Alleged Sexual Relations Between Chicago Police Officers and Migrants | Wayne Dupree

Unknown numbers of police officers are the subject of an investigation by the Chicago Police Department into allegations that they had sex with migrants.

Numerous migrants from Mexico are residing in various structures and shelters throughout the city, including Chicago police stations. While city officials formalize a long-term plan to deal with the new arrivals, some migrants have been made to sleep on floors inside the stations.

According to CNN, the agency issued a statement that read, “These allegations are under investigation with CPD’s Bureau of Internal Affairs and the Civilian Office of Police Accountability.”

Although investigators are looking into Chicago’s 10th police district, CPD did reveal the names of the alleged victims. About 65% of people in that district identify as Hispanic.

Police officials and investigators have not disclosed the precise number of officers under investigation. Furthermore, it’s unclear if any disciplinary actions have been taken against the officers under investigation.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability and the CPD Bureau of Internal Affairs are investigating this incident, but Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson stated in a tweet that the city is committed to offering mental health resources and support to everyone who needs it.

The mayor also stated that the process of relocating recent migrant arrivals to other neighborhoods and temporary shelters is currently underway.

According to its ongoing strategy of removing asylum seekers from all Chicago police stations, Johnson continued, “the administration is also in the process of relocating all new arrivals from District 10 today.”

However, John J. Catanzara Jr., President of the Fraternal Order of Police Chicago Lodge No. 7, defended the undercover officers and called the accusations “ridiculous.”

“The complaint is without merit. There is no foundation or source for where it came from, he declared in a statement. At this time, we don’t know the name of the victim or anything else about them. Who even knows if it’s true?
