Trader Joe’s recalls are starting to read much like a twisted version of the fable Stone Soup.
The Monrovia-based grocery chain in the last two days issued two new recalls for food that might have non-food items in them.
On Friday, the company said its fully cooked falafel (with the SKU number 93935) may contain rocks. Notably, the falafel was sold in 35 states and Washington, D.C., but apparently not in California.
If the latest recall sounds familiar, just four days ago, the chain said two types of cookies also might have rocks, recalling both items. The cookies include Trader Joe’s Almond Windmill Cookies (SKU# 98744) and Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies (SKU# 82752).
Trader Joe’s said its supplier alerted them to the rocks in the treats and the falafel.
The company also has pulled its Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup because it might have insects in the mix. (Yes, we know, more protein!)
The type of insect in the soup was not mentioned by Trader Joe’s. Customers who bought the soup should look for (SKU# 68470) and “use by” dates of 07/18/23 – 09/15/23.
“No known adverse health effects have been reported to date, and all potentially affected product has been removed from sale and destroyed,” the company said.
