2024 Ford Ranger: Here’s How America Is Ordering Their Pickup Trucks

The new generation of the Ford Ranger has been available in the U.S. since May, and the automaker now reveals how buyers personalize their pickups.

The 4WD trims account for an impressive 80% of the 2024 Ford Ranger orders, meaning that RWD Rangers are a minority in North America. Additionally, around 20% of the Ranger buyers get the optional FX4 Off-Road Package, showing that they intend to use the midsize pickup on more challenging terrains.

The lineup of the 2024 Ranger includes the XL, XLT, Lariat, and Raptor trims. According to Ford, the three most popular configurations are the Oxford White XL STX 4WD, the Cactus Gray XLT Sport 4WD with the tow package, and the Shadow Black Lariat Sport 4WD with the tow package.

Predictably, a lot of Ranger buyers intend to use their truck for towing, as 70% of them get it with a hitch, and 50% opt for the Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Trailer Brake Controller systems making it easier to maneuver.

As for the rugged Ranger Raptor, 40% of buyers personalize it with beadlock wheels and the “Raptor” graphics on the profile communicating its off-road-focused nature. The most popular Raptor colors are the Shelter Green Metallic, which was the shade of the presentation vehicle in the North American launch, and the more stealthy Shadow Black.

Ford hasn’t disclosed specific order numbers, but has mentioned that ‘demand remains strong’ and there is ‘solid interest across the lineup.’ As a refresher, the 2024 Ranger starts at $32,565, with the Raptor flagship priced from $56,960. How would you customize your Ranger? Would you prefer it over its rival midsize trucks such as the Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Nissan Frontier?
