ultiverse, the edtech unicorn founded by Euan Blair, has signed for a new larger London headquarters in Paddington to accommodate growth and as it embraces hybrid working.
The company, launched by the son of former prime minister Tony Blair in 2016, uses software to match apprentices with companies and provides an alternative learning route to university.
The office expansion, which will see Multiverse move from smaller space in Marylebone and relocate from today to 20,000 sq ft across two floors at flexible workspace giant WeWork’s 2 Eastbourne Terrace, comes after rising momentum at the business.
It has so far trained over 10,000 professional apprentices in partnership with scores of employers and last year became a “unicorn” after a funding round gave it a $1.7billion (£1.36 billion) valuation.
Multiverse will have its own private office floors but also access to WeWork’s amenities elsewhere in the wider building such as a coffee bar and bike storage.
Libby Dangoor, chief of staff at Multiverse said through the firm’s hybrid approach staff have the freedom to work on their own terms “harnessing the advantages of remote work along with the value of in-person collaboration and a great office environment”.
Toni Crosbie, who leads property adviser Making Moves London, which acted for the tenant said there is an ongoing trend of large companies seeking workspaces “that champion both sustainability and an outstanding workplace destination”.
New York-listed WeWork’s Mathieu Proust, chief operating officer international, added: “As the world of work continues to evolve, we are seeing consistent demand from progressive, forward-thinking businesses who are recognising the value of flexible, scalable and inspiring workspace to marry both business needs and employees expectations.”
