Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers were called to an incident at a property on Coniston Road in Farnworth at around 3pm.
Upon arrival, they said they found a 32-year-old man who acted “in a threatening manner” towards police officers and members of the public.
The man was tasered and subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency services worker.
But no injuries to officers or members of the public have been reported.
A GMP spokesperson said: “Police were called to reports of an incident at a property on Coniston Road in Farnworth at around 3pm this afternoon (Friday).
“A 32-year-old male was acting in a threatening manner towards police officers and members of the public.
“He was subsequently tasered and then arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency services worker.
“No injuries to officers or members of the public have been reported.”
Speaking at around 3.30pm, one resident said: “There is an ongoing police incident where a man has been tasered on Coniston Avenue, Farnworth.
“There were seven police cars and four vans.”
Speaking this afternoon, a nearby resident said: “I saw three police cars and two vans were there for one bloke.
“They had him on the floor.”
Another resident added: “It is normally quiet at this end of the street.”
