DUBAI: Dubai Mall’s Kinokuniya bookstore and Japanese eraser company IWAKO will be holding a special “Make your Own Bento Eraser Box” event until August 20th.
Kinokuniya is a Japanese-retailer bookstore that sells English, Arabic, and Asian literature books as well as magazines and stationery. It’s considered the biggest bookstore in the UAE.
IWAKO was founded in 1968 and started as a plastic molding factory, but its innovative spirit soon led it to develop pencil topper erasers that have 3D shapes. IWAKO uses environmentally friendly materials.
A representative of IWAKO said exclusively to Arab News Japan about the campaign, “this event that’s referred to as ‘eraser buffet’ is very popular in Japan…this is our first event outside of Japan”.
“The idea of the event is to make your own Bento eraser box from a variety of choices. We have over 500 choices of erasers in Japan, and we sell them as a set, but for this special event, we brought some of them (to the bookstore) for the people to choose their favorite selections and make their own unique Bento eraser boxes,” she added.
A representative of Kinokuniya bookstore said exclusively to Arab News Japan regarding the campaign, “we were over the moon when IWAKO offered us the chance to host the first Bento eraser promotion outside of Japan. We didn’t hesitate for a moment… we are thrilled with the initial results.”
