DUBAI: From sushi to teppanyaki, Mrs Mika is a Japanese restaurant in Dubai that offers a variety of authentic dishes made by experienced chefs.
Brothers Destiny Group, a company specializing in launching businesses in the hospitality industry, opened the restaurant in 2022. Hamad Al Ghiam, CEO and founder of the company, told Arab News Japan that one of the biggest challenges about opening a Japanese restaurant in Dubai was the location.
“Our dining establishment was situated in an area where fine dining restaurants were unexpected. However, our belief in our unique ideas and our dedicated team allowed us to overcome this challenge,” he said.
Al Ghiam said that Mrs Mika stands out from other Japanese restaurants in Dubai because of their willingness to invest in the place and the food to satisfy their customers.
“Our ability to make swift decisions, adapt our offerings, and prioritize customer satisfaction distinguishes us from most Japanese restaurants,” he said.
Mrs Mika’s Head Chef Nino Cedilla Orcine has around 9 years of experience in Japanese cuisine. While he started his culinary journey with Italian cuisine, he quickly found his passion in Japanese cuisine.
“I developed a fascination for sushi and grew to love this culinary tradition. Throughout my culinary journey, I’ve explored various styles of Japanese cuisine, ranging from traditional to modern and even fusion sushi,” Cedilla told Arab News Japan.
When asked about his cooking style, Cedilla said, “On a daily basis, I adhere to the essential kitchen practices: from crafting stocks, handling preparations, to precise portioning. Following established standards and maintaining food quality are paramount.”
Mrs Mika offers cooked and raw Japanese food, receiving positive feedback on both. “The response was fantastic, and visitors greatly enjoyed the experience. We always put in our best effort to ensure that our visitors are dazzled and satisfied,” Al Ghiam said.
Al Ghiam hopes to expand Mrs Mika around Europe and the GCC region, as well as enter 5-star hotels.
Mrs Mika is located at Jumeirah 1 and opens daily from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m.
