Heavy rock band Metallica have revealed they have left their sex, drugs and rock and roll lifestyle in the past as the members enter their 60s.
The band, which first formed in 1981 in Los Angeles, shot to fame with the release of their third album Master Puppets in 1986 and have gone on to have huge success.
Made up of vocalist James Hetfield, 60, drummer Lars Ulrich, 59, lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, 60, and bassist Robert Trujillo, 58, the men have ditched the alcohol for Peloton and Tofu as they aim to be healthier.
The band is still performing to tens of thousands of fans, however they are now prioritising their health and family.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal on Thursday, drummer and co-founder Lars revealed he is ‘chained to Peloton’ while James prefers to swim.

Bassist Kirk prefers to do some yoga, and Robert, who joined the band in 2003, enjoys bodyweight workouts, running drills and surfing.
‘The clichés about rock ’n’ roll and Jack Daniel’s and shenanigans and burning the candle at three ends…. that’s all well and good, but I can tell you that having a clear mind and a clear view and feeling strong and healthy,’ revealed Lars.
He confessed he can now hit the drums harder than ever and give a better performance.
The heavy metal band were known for their boozy drug-filled lifestyle, with Hetfield checking in to rehab in both 2001 and almost 20 years later in 2019.
Now 40 years on since they first formed the band are still on the road, touring for their latest album 72 Seasons with huge stadium shows.
Reportedly grossing up to £10 million dollars a night the rockstars have realised drinking every night just isn’t sustainable anymore at their age.
There isn’t a band policy against drinking, however Lars confessed ‘Ultimately, more that anything, you want to try to stay sane and healthy…That’s the number one thing.’
Back in the day, the band’s alcoholic tendencies earned the nickname ‘Alcoholica’ in the press while they were also known for their prolific cocaine habits.
Speaking to The Mirror in 2014, Lars admitted he ‘loved the social elements of cocaine. I loved the danger of it.’
However the drummer has now been clean for years after he admitted he never had an addictive personality so found it easy to quit.

However while they’ve switched up the lifestyle, they still are as dedicated to the music as ever as James stated that metal music will never die back in April.
Speaking to host Waleed Aly on The Project, the lead vocalist agreed with the common argument that ‘rock is dead’, but said heavy metal will live on.
Hetfield insisted the genre is an ‘underground’ aesthetic which will always have its place in the world of music.
‘It’s a misfit music. It’s an underground feeling still. It’s like a rebel music. It’s a thing you need to fight for,’ he said.
‘You know every decade, “Rock is dead.” That is fuel for a hard rock band absolutely.’
