Leeds United are delighted to announce the signing of Djed Spence from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
The full-back moves to Elland Road on a season-long loan deal, becoming the club’s sixth summer arrival.
After coming through the ranks with Fulham’s academy, Spence moved to Middlesbrough in 2018 and he went on to make 70 appearances during his time at the Riverside Stadium, over the next four years.
Spence would go on to spend the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest and made 50 outings for the Reds in all competitions, playing a key role as Steve Cooper’s side won promotion to the Premier League via the Play-Offs.
Following the conclusion of his loan at the City Ground and after being named in the EFL and PFA Championship Team of the Year, Tottenham Hotspur moved to secure his services from Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee.
Spence made six appearances for Spurs, before joining French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais back in January, who he helped to a fourth placed finish.
On the international stage, Spence has been capped six times at Under-21 level for England, after making his debut in March 2022.
The 23-year-old now links up with former Spurs and Rennes teammate Joe Rodon at the Whites, who is also on a season-long loan deal from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
He could make his debut in Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture with Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road.
