The 20-year-old was then diagnosed with Precursor T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

Dylan, from Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, died at home surrounded by his family on Saturday evening.

A post on social media read: “He went in his sleep with his family by his side, having said his goodbyes to all of his friends the day before and he was still full of laughs and jokes.”

Dylan’s friends continued: “I cannot put into words the love that us lads and Dylan’s family have felt through this difficult time.

“We cannot thank everyone enough for the continued support and love.

“I hope we have done you proud bro and I hope you know that we will always love you.”

A GoFundMe page was set up to raise funds for Dylan to head to America for life-saving treatment.

It has so far raised more than £170,000, while his friends took on the Three Peaks Challenge.

England and Manchester City ace Jack Grealish chipped in after hearing about the Liverpool University student’s plight.

The 27-year-old star shared the page link on Instagram in July with a broken heart and crying emoji.

He posted: “Please have a read.”

Discussing Dylan’s cancer battle, his girlfriend Phoebe Cole said: “It got progressively worse, he lost his appetite and was being sick.

“His mum took him to A&E in unbearable pain and a blood test showed his white blood cells were through the roof.

“It all happened so fast, he was diagnosed with Precursor T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and then three days later he was having chemotherapy.”
