MILAN – Continuing to build on its streak of collaborations, Blumarine is to launch a capsule collection developed for Italian luxury retailer Modes.
Titled “The Bling Utility,” the range aims to respect the romantic spirit embedded in Blumarine’s DNA and the Y2K vibe its creative director Nicola Brognano has injected into its aesthetic since his appointment in 2019.
As result, the 10-item capsule includes a series of light wool pieces — such as a blazer jacket, a bustier top, a miniskirt and pants — embellished with rhinestone embroidery, as well as a denim set pairing sparkling cargo pants with a matching bra with 3D rough-cut roses.
Other highlights include Blumarine’s signature Bluvi cardigan reworked in oversized proportions and crafted from merino wool with an eco-fur collar; a ruffled dress in shiny jersey and georgette, and a tulle T-shirt with shimmering rose embroideries. Reflecting Blumarine’s push in the handbag category, the collection will also offer a butterfly-shaped bag.
Brognano intended to design a capsule collection that “flawlessly expresses the idea of a new kind of utility wear: hyperfeminine, glamorous and unexpected.”
“The materials are selected and precious, the silhouettes compliment every figure. Each piece is the perfect fusion of all Blumarine key elements that are insanely dear to me,” added the designer, who worked with a familiar color palette encompassing denim blue, light pink, burgundy and red hues.
Priced between 400 euros and 1,990 euros, the Blumarine x Modes capsule collection will drop starting Sept. 21, when Blumarine will also stage its spring 2024 runway show in Milan. The range will be available exclusively at Modes boutiques in Milan; Paris; St. Moritz, Switzerland; and Cagliari in Sardinia, in addition to both the retailer’s and Blumarine’s online stores.
Modes, which was originally known as Stefania Mode from the company’s first store that opened in Trapani, Sicily, in 1971, operates more than 20 stores. These include multibrand Modes boutiques dedicated to women and men, multibrand MiniModes outposts for childrenswear, as well as mono-brand franchised stores.
As reported, Blumarine has previously collaborated on capsule collections with the likes of Heaven by Marc Jacobs, Japanese shoe brand Suicoke, and Sanrio for items dedicated to Hello Kitty, among others.
