NTAs 2023 winners revealed as EastEnders and Happy Valley triumph

The National Television Awards have handed out top prizes to EastEnders, Ant and Dec and Happy Valley.

The Masked Singer‘s Joel Dommett welcomed some of the biggest stars in TV to the O2 Arena on Tuesday night (September 5) to unveil the year’s most memorable telly moments, stars and shows.

The near-three-hour ceremony included EastEnders winning multiple awards (including Best Serial Drama), while Happy Valley took both the Returning Drama Award and a Special Recognition for star Sarah Lancashire — the latter presented by Sir Ian McKellen.

There were also some historic surprises, as This Morning lost the Daytime Award for the first time in 13 years to The Repair Shop. Gogglebox also pipped usual winners Ant and Dec for the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award.

Ant and Dec continued their 22-year streak of winning the TV Presenter Award, with Dec admitting in his acceptance speech that he was more nervous this year than ever before.
