Advisry designer Keith Herron built his streetwear label to be a hub for art and culture, and his spring 2024 collection continued the mission.
Herron looked to his love of film for the collection — his 10th since launching the brand in 2014 — specifically focusing on Technicolor films from the ’30s to ’50s. The designer translated this inspiration in multiple ways, such as starting the collection with styles in black and white, then moving to looks in red, blue and yellow, as well as referencing the wardrobe of Natalie Kalmus, who was the head of the Technicolor art department for films of those years.
“I was really drawn to it just because it marked a period of film that was a turning point and what film was to become and what film is today,” he explained. “It felt very much like it epitomized the point that I was at in my career with this being the first show. But I’ve also been doing this for 10 years, so it feels like the coming to color moment for Advisry.”
With each collection, Herron has furthered the design codes of his brand — such as introducing tailoring and womenswear — and this continued for spring. Herron delivered his own take on suiting, with boxy jackets designed with the shoulders bluntly cut off and pin-striped white suits complemented by gold hardware and chains.
Herron also referenced the costumes of Technicolor films, creating a wide range of tweed separates that he highlighted as key pieces. The designer balanced the tailored pieces with his signature streetwear, creating colorful tracksuits, embellished denim and graphic T-shirts, which altogether showed his range and ability to continue to evolve Advisry.
