Tecovas, an Austin, Texas-based direct-to-consumer Western brand, has partnered with designer Kristopher Brock on a collection of women’s apparel and boots. This marks the first time Tecovas has partnered with a luxury fashion designer.
The limited-edition capsule of nine dresses, three boots and a floral ranch scarf blend Tecovas Western heritage with Brock’s tailored and modern designs.
Brock, who was born in Texas and is a tailor by trade, sought to evoke a sense of nostalgia and tradition with the collection. The dresses are designed with his signature attention to fit and detail while the boots feature silhouettes reimagined with distressed detailing.
“Kris’ authentic vision and love for the Western lifestyle perfectly complements our commitment to quality and craftsmanship at Tecovas,” said Elizabeth Ruiz, senior footwear designer for Tecovas. “Our approach was to create styles that didn’t feel so precious but rather have a well-worn-like quality with a nod to vintage. Inspired by Kris’ signature textiles, this special collection celebrates trailblazing women who are drawn to the West.”
“Tecovas has been a company I have worn and admired for several years now and I am beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their first women’s capsule collection,” Brock added. “Each piece from this collection means a great deal to me personally and I am excited to finally share this project with you all.”
He added that his process “always starts with the woman — her lifestyle and needs in a wardrobe. In this case, growing up in Texas and having a personal love for Western heritage, I looked at those closest to me for inspiration.”
He added that the boots “are meant to be lived in and help tell your story. The more beat-up the better. They all come slightly distressed, to help you get past the feeling of being too precious or new.”
The dresses include printed eyelets, crinkled cotton voile with embroidery and cotton canvas as the core fabrics, which Brock said are intended to “represent wind-blown fields.” Styles include a long Willow Dress in a black and beige print with a corset upper body and scalloped hem for $295; the Ava dress in a short bluebonnet floral print for $265 with a ruffled neckline; the Mila Dress for $285 which features a long bluebonnet floral print with three-quarter-length sleeves and removable slip; the India dress, for $265, a long silhouette in a cotton blend; a Charlotte Top in a black and bone floral print with puff sleeves for $165; the June Dress, a short floral print dress that can be worn on or off the shoulder for $265; the Emma Dress, a floral print in a smocked upper body and sleeves; a longer Charlie Dress version for $285, and the May Dress for $245 which features a lightweight eyelet fabric.
The boots range in price from $325 for The Sadie in a clay oily nubuck with inlays, $425 for The Annie in brick suede with a 14-inch shaft, and $995 for The Abby in Nile crocodile with a 17-inch shaft.
The scarf, which also features a floral print and is made in Italy from a cotton-silk blend, will retail for $150.
The Tecovas x Kristopher Brock Collection will be available beginning Sept. 21 at the Tecovas e-commerce site and at select retail stores.
Tecovas was founded in 2015 and operates 29 stores across the country. Brock designs the womenswear label, Brock Collection, which won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award in 2016. Most recently he collaborated with H&M.
