Key Ford F-150 accessories left to the aftermarket for now

Customer deliveries of the locally remanufactured Ford F-150 are slated to begin in November and at launch there will only be a few accessories that can be added onto the pickup.

Speaking with CarExpert, Ford Australia F-Series brand manager Peter Zikas said the company’s position was to be able to bring the “critical to launch accessories”.

There will be around six genuine accessories available for the Ford F-150 at launch, including a rolling tonneau cover, vinyl tonneau cover and bonnet protectors, among others.

At this stage the full list of genuine accessories available on the local F-150 and pricing for these haven’t been detailed.

The most notable absence from the F-150 genuine accessory list at launch is a bull bar. Ford says there’s a lot of development work currently underway with bull bars.

When asked whether Ford is working with ARB on accessories for the F-150, Mr Zikas said working on ongoing.

“[ARB is] obviously a very big partner of ours, that we’re having conversation with them around what we can achieve through ARB,” said Mr Zikas.

“Particularly some of the more hardcore stuff, bull bars, for example.”

Ford and ARB have an existing partnership that has seen the Ranger and Everest receive a range of accessories that can be purchased at Ford dealerships and are endorsed by Ford’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

It’s unclear what Ford and ARB will offer on the F-150 at this stage.

As previously reported, the locally remanufactured Ford F-150 range is being offered at launch in two different trim levels – XLT and Lariat. Both of which can be had in either short- (3683mm) or long-wheelbase (3987mm) guise.

Regardless of which length you opt for, the F-150 will feature a dual-cab body style in Australia.

Local pricing starts at $106,950 before on-roads for the XLT SWB, and extends to $140,945 before on-roads for the Lariat LWB.
