Hunter Biden is expected to plead not guilty Tuesday in Delaware federal to criminal charges related to having a handgun while being a drug user.

The arraignment of the son of President Joe Biden will be held in person.

A judge denied Hunter Biden’s request to attend his initial court appearance in the case remotely via video videoconference.

Biden, 53, was indicted last month on three firearms counts.

The charges were filed after a planned plea deal that would have allowed him to avoid being charged in the gun case collapsed after a judge raised questions about its terms.

In addition to the gun case, Biden also is charged with two counts of failure to pay federal income taxes. He has pleaded not guilty in that case.

His lawyer, Abbe Lowell, argues that the gun charges are legally barred by an agreement Biden reached with the Department of Justice before the plea deal fell apart. DOJ special David Weiss disputes Lowell’s claim.
