Long past are the days when one simply had to set an absurdly early alarm on the day after Thanksgiving and head out into the chill air to stand in line at a big box retailer to take advantage of once-in-a-year sales and deals. In 2023, “Black Friday” has become a month-long affair, and you can already score great deals right now.
In fact, some of the prices and promotions launching online today (and in stores on Nov. 10) as part of Walmart’s Early Black Friday sale are unlikely to be bettered on the day itself—and it’s probably a good idea to shop soon to take advantage of them. I’ll highlight some of your best bets below, but keep in mind that we have no idea how long these deals will last, and prices could change or items go out of stock at any time. Shop smart, but shop soon, is what I’m saying.
A pair of AirPods for $69
Though the second-generation AirPods were first released in 2019 and don’t offer as many features as the AirPods Pro (or even the updated third-generation AirPods from 2021), they’re still a fantastic bet for Apple users seeking high-performing wireless earbuds that integrate seamlessly with the Apple ecosystem. Right now, Walmart is selling them for $69, close to half off the retail price of $129.
Sony WF-C500 Bluetooth earbuds for 70% off
If you aren’t in the Apple ecosystem or just want a reliable pair of wireless earbuds from a trusted brand, you can pick up the Sony WF-C500s for $29, more than 70% off the $100 retail price. Our friends at PCMag gave them 4 out of 5 stars when reviewing the earbuds back in 2021, praising their customizability, water resistance, and sound quality.
A new Apple Watch Series 9 for $50 off
The newest Apple Watch launched back in September and is already getting marked down for the holiday season. Walmart has knocked $50 off the price of many Series 9 models, including both the GPS-only and GPS + Cellular models with the Sport Band or Sport Loop.
A decent Samsung smartwatch for under $100
Though it’s about two years old now, the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic is still a decent entry-level smartwatch for Android users, and can monitor your workouts, track your sleep, and use an array of apps. And right now you can grab one for under $100, which is rare for a “name brand” wearable device like this one.
A Dyson V12 cordless vacuum for 38% off
Dyson vacuums are big sale items every Black Friday—their cachet in the sucking industry (that’s what it’s called, right?) remains unparalleled. This time around, Walmart is discounting the Dyson V12 Detect Slim, a versatile cordless stick model with onboard processing that can adjust power use (and prolong the battery life) depending on what you’re cleaning up. You can save $250 off the usual $650 price.
A Tineco iFLOOR 3 wet/dry vacuum and hardwood floor washer for $200
I’ve been using the Dyson I got as an engagement gift (don’t laugh, I love him!) for around 12 years now, but considering I’ve mostly got hardwood floors, it’s only so helpful (as a result, I almost never actually “clean” my floors). That’s why I’m seriously eyeing the iFLOOR 3 wet/dry vac from Tineco, which is also designed to wash hardwood. Walmart shoppers give it 4.5 stars, and it’s $100 off right now.
A self-cleaning Eufy robot vacuum for $300 off
Or maybe you don’t want to think too much about vacuuming your floors at all, and want to make a robot do it. Here’s your chance to enslave a pretty capable one for a mere 200 bones—$300 less than the usual price. The Eufy Clean L50 SES will cruise around your house picking up debris, and empty its own receptacle for as long as 60 days. It also responds to voice control via Alexa, so you can boss it around.
The cheapest 50” 4K TV around
Though the picture quality might not satisfy cinephiles or anyone who has ever discussed “black levels” in earnest, it’s hard not to marvel at the the fact that you can now pick up a 50” widescreen TV for less than $150. This 4K Roku smart TV comes from Onn (Walmart’s in-house brand), and what it lacks in pristine picture quality, it makes up for in usability (it includes three HDMI ports for your gaming systems) and by being, well, cheap.
Onn 50″ Class 4K HDR Roku Smart TV $148
A much better 65” Sony Bravia 4K TV for $900 off
OK, so maybe you are someone who has used the phrase “black levels” in earnest and you scoff at any TV that measures under five feet diagonally. Walmart has knocked nearly a grand—$900, to be exact—off the price of the 65” Sony Bravia XR A90J OLED TV. This set features Google smart features and received stellar marks and an “Editor’s Choice” badge in its PCMag review.
A much, much better 85″ Samsung 8K smart TV for $2,100 off
Look, maybe you’re flush with cash and for some reason searching for early Black Friday deals anyway. (Is that why you’re so rich?) If that’s the case, you can spend a lot of money and still save a lot of money by picking up the 85″ Samsung Class QN800C Neo QLED 8K smart TV, which Walmart is selling for $3,875, which seems like a lot until you hear that’s more than $2,100 less than it usually costs. It’s big as hell and has great picture quality; the primary fault PCMag could find when reviewing a similar model was the price tag. But that doesn’t matter to you, because you’re rich!
A Samsung soundbar for $100 off
As fancy as your smart TV might be, it probably doesn’t have the world’s best sound (understandable, considering they’re probably blasting audio directly against your wall instead of out into the room). Even a cheap soundbar can help here, and Walmart is selling the midrange Samsung B-Series 4.1ch soundbar with a wireless subwoofer for $100 off the usual $239 price.
A powerful Lenovo Legion Pro 5 laptop for $340 off
As Lifehacker’s tech editor Jake Peterson recently noted, laptops are a lot cheaper than they used to be, but they aren’t always cheap, which means taking advantage of sales is paramount. And it’s a good time to spring for one of the most powerful machines in the Lenovo lineup—Walmart is selling the 16-inch Legion Pro 5 with an AMD Ryzen 7 7745HX CPU, a NVIDIA GeForce RTX4070, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD, for $1,599, $340 off the usual price.
A sweet budget gaming laptop for under $500
You can easily spend thousands on a high-end gaming rig, but if you just want a laptop that will let you play the latest AAA titles without your processor catching on fire, PCMag recommends the MSI GF63 as a reliable choice. It offers a 15.6” screen and an RTX 3050 GPU, and it’s $220 off right now.
A PS5 and the new Spider-Man 2 game for $499
I don’t have a PlayStation 5 (the last PlayStation I owned had a “2″ in the name), but I’m sorely tempted to finally splurge on one for the holidays, as Walmart is selling the once-hard to find console for $499, which, yes, is the regualr price, but they’re including a copy of Spider-Man 2. All the reviews are calling a potential game of the year! And it will, uh, probably not be coming to the Switch any time soon.
An inkjet printer that costs about what they’re worth (not much)
I loathe inkjet printers, and you probably do too. They are finicky and expensive to refill and terrible for the environment. But sometimes you really need to print something at home. And while I find it absolutely disgusting that it costs the same to buy a new printer as an ink refill, I’ve also probably spent more than the $49 asking price of this HP DeskJet 3772 wireless model on last-minute school project-related trips to FedEx over the past couple years.
