This year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas was filled with an array of impressive restomods and of them all, the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro from Lopez Performance and Sean Smith Designs was one of the real head-turners.
In creating this special Camaro, Lopez Performance wanted to retain the original silhouette but give it a slightly more modern and aggressive feel. Sean Smith Designs first sketched out the car and then made 3D mock-ups of it on a computer before the thumbs up was given to bring the proposed changes into the real world.
One of the key exterior changes is a new multi-piece front grille with carbon fiber inlays that was engineered and machined just for this car. The Camaro also features a unique carbon fiber hood from SpeedKore, a flush-mounted rear bumper, a carbon front splitter, a rear diffuser, and new rocker panels. It was then sprayed in a stunning color known as Solar Bronze and sits on Brixton Forged VI4 carbon series wheels measuring 19×10 at the front and 20×12 at the rear.

On the performance front, the Camaro now features a new Dart LSX V8 engine with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger, stainless steel headers, a 3-inch exhaust, unique mufflers, and a custom stainless steel fuel tank. This engine churns out a wicked 1,200 hp and is coupled to a T56 six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. Complementing the special engine are beefed-up Baer Pro+ 6S six-piston front and rear calipers with 14-inch rotors.
Gabe’s Custom Interiors was tasked with making the cabin special. Adorning most surfaces is a combination of Truffle Brown Impact leather and Lamborghini Black Hyde leather. There is also a billet instrument cluster, a new console, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Custom gauges have also been fitted alongside a Restomod Air HVAC system and an audio system from Art of Sound.
