All-Electric Lamborghini Lanzador Poses On The Lawns Of Monterey

The Lanzador concept is Lamborghini’s first look at what is going to become its first fully electric model

All-Electric Lamborghini Lanzador Poses On The Lawns Of Monterey

The newly revealed Lanzador is the most “sophisticated, the most visionary concept car” Lamborghini has ever created, says Mitja Borkert, the company’s head of design. And it’s hard to argue that the all-electric 2+2 concept is anything but a big swing for the company.

Unveiled at “The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering,” as part of Monterey Car Week, the new model features the typical Lamborghini wedge design, as interpreted with a higher ride height, to help incorporate EV batteries into the design.

“It is, for me, a showcase of the Lamborghini of the future, of a potential fourth model. And for me, it’s important—the new proportions, the new segment that we have shaped, because we were starting from the design volume of the super sports car, and put it in a higher position,” said Borkert. “So the driver, the pilot, is having a pilot position, and that is creating outstanding proportions—a car, a Lamborghini that no one has seen so far.”

More than simply a baby Urus that will become a compliance car, Lamborghini said that the Lanzador will have “more than one megawatt” (1,341 hp/1,360 PS) of power, which means that the concept is envisioned as having more horses than the plug-in hybrid Revuelto flagship supercar, which tops out at 1,001 hp (746 kW/1,015 PS).

In fact, the new concept car was shown off next to the upcoming PHEV hypercar, in addition to a variety of other models, like the Huracán Sterrato, and the Urus Performante, in order to demonstrate how the brand’s future will grow from its 60 years of history.

According to Borkert, the design department really took that history into consideration: The window line recalls the Murcielago, the Y-shapes in the body sides were borrowed from the Sesto Elemento, and the side air intake is a nod to the Miura.

“So, in terms of design, all the ingredients of a Lamborghini are cooked together into a dish that is tasting fresh, new, authentic, and it’s showcasing the future,” the designer explains. You can check out how that new dish looks compared to the others the automaker has created in the gallery above.
