Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott Photos Together

Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott’s friendship runs deep. Some fans have only learned about the pair’s bond because they’re starring together in the new teen comedy “Bottoms,” which premieres Aug. 25, but they’ve been close and supportive friends way before either made it big.

“I’d gone to mics before, and I was like, this does not sound fun,” Edebiri told Paste Magazine in 2020, explaining how Sennott encouraged her to brave more open mics. “Then Rachel was like, ‘You’re doing this whether or not you like it.'”

The pair originally met as students at New York University, and in the years since, they’ve used social media to share coffee runs, bathroom selfies, and TikTok trends, cheering each other on as they both made their way through the entertainment industry.

While working together on “Bottoms,” the two have kept busy in their respective careers as well, with Edebiri recently earning an Emmy nomination for her role on “The Bear,” and Sennott appearing on “The Idol” alongside Lily-Rose Depp and in 2020’s “Shiva Baby” from “Bottoms” director Emma Seligman. In 2020, Edebiri and Sennott also teamed up for the series “Ayo and Rachel Are Single” on Comedy Central. “More than the show being about dating, I feel like for us it’s about us being like two very dysfunctional friends who both have anxiety that operates in very different ways,” Edebiri told Paste about the show, explaining more about their working relationship.

In “Bottoms,” Edebiri and Sennott take their friendship to the big screen, starring as two queer teens who start a fight club in an effort to have sex before graduation. But although this is the first time they’re playing friends on camera, it seems like they’ve been looking forward to this moment for years. “BLINDED by our futures also SWEATING,” Sennott wrote in a 2017 Instagram post, squinting beside Edebiri and perhaps manifesting their lasting joint comedy career.
