The Bolton North Neighbourhood Team made the arrests this week as part of their target to make roads in Bolton safer.
On Wednesday evening, officers stopped a vehicle on Crompton Way and police say the driver tested positive for cannabis.
He was arrested for drug driving and taken to custody.
A spokesperson for Bolton North said: “On the way back from dropping the first arrested male off at custody, officers end up behind this van on Crompton Way again and are drawn to the smell of cannabis coming from the van.
“The driver tested positive for cannabis and was arrested, so officers turned around and went straight back to custody to drop off the second male.”
Some of the consequences for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs include:
• A minimum 12 month driving ban
• A criminal record
• An unlimited fine
• Up to six months in prison
• An endorsement on your driving licence for 11 years
The maximum penalty for causing death by careless driving when under the influence of drugs or drink is life imprisonment, with a minimum driving ban of five years.
It comes as Greater Manchester Police launched their Safer Roads Greater Manchester’s “Your Car Can’t Say No” campaign, warning drivers of the devastating consequences of getting behind the wheel after taking drugs or drinking alcohol.
