A BOY of 16 has had a heart transplant after suffering life-threatening complications from Covid.
Osian Jones was struck down by a strain of the virus which attacks the internal organs.
He suffered three heart attacks and, with his own heart damaged, his best hope was a transplant.
His parents, Alexis and Andy, said: “Osian came home from a friends’ saying his chest was hurting and he felt really poorly,
“We rang 111 and they advised to go straight to A&E.
“We went just for a check-up and thought it would be a case of giving us a prescription and sending us home.
“In an instant all that changed.”
Osian, who had the operation at Harefield Hospital in West London last month, is recovering.
Osian, of Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, did not know he had Covid when he became ill in February.
His heart was damaged when it came under attack because of an inflammatory syndrome linked to the virus
His parents added: “Osian fought all the way and beat all the odds.
“Osian has continually amazed the doctors and nurses with his resilience, his positive attitude and most of all the way he has faced every step of this journey with bravery.
“We are so incredibly proud of him.”
