Just in time for the kickoff of the 104th season of the NFL on Sept. 7, Fremont Provisions officially will convert to a sports bar, where people can enjoy elevated sports bar cuisine while watching their favorite games on one of the 11 new large-screen televisions.
Located at 507 Main St., the restaurant, beginning Sept. 7, will be open seven days a week.
New hours will be 4:30-9:30 p.m. Mondays; 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays; and 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sundays.
“We are hoping to make a gathering place for sports,” said Stan Bullis, president of Unbridled, which owns Hotel St. Cloud and various other properties in the community.
The name of the establishment will remain the same and most of the food will still be made from scratch. There will be more burgers, bar food and bites, in addition to full entrees.
“When we get big games, we might actually go ahead and open up upstairs (the Annex Event Center),” Bullis said. “When we get to playoff time, we might do a watch party.”
Since Fremont Provisions no longer will be a date-night place, a new date-night, steak and seafood establishment is slated to open in December, called 1887 Historic Eatery inside the Hotel St. Cloud.
1887 Historic Eatery will be open for breakfast and dinner in a more intimate environment.
“We want to do kind of a traditional European upscale breakfast with tablecloths and homemade jams,” Bullis said. “It will be open for breakfast daily, and then it will close for lunch so that other restaurants get traffic and then it will open again for dinner.”
The 1887 Historic Eatery is named in honor of the year the hotel officially was completed, with a new fourth floor, after being rebuilt and reopened following its move from Silver Cliff.
The restaurant will offer upscale frontier fare including steaks, elk, pig and venison.
Inside the 1887 Historic Eatery, a bookcase will open to reveal a high-end cocktail lounge called The War Room, which is slated to be open Thursday-Saturday evenings in December.
“The idea behind that is a very private place where you can go create covenant, create agreements, talk, sort of speakeasy-ish, but not that private because it has an entrance on Seventh (Street),” Bullis said.
The Hotel St. Cloud’s bar, Fremont Public House, opened in December and will continue to operate. This venue is available to book out for private events, any day of the week. The cost is $350 an hour, which includes beverage and food with a two-hour minimum. To book an event, email [email protected]. Bar hours will extend once the hotel lobby is open, which is slated for December.
The last phase of the Hotel St. Cloud project will be the actual hotel, which is expected to open in the fall of 2024.
Unbridled is expected to have about 30 jobs available between the restaurants, bars and hotel.
A hiring fair will be hosted in October for all positions. Email [email protected] with interest and resumes.
