BERKELEY, Mo. – Clayco has begun construction on a large-scale cold storage facility in north St. Louis County for one of the nation’s largest food distributors.
Crews broke ground on the new facility for Performance Food Group, Inc. in Berkeley.
The 350,000-square-foot facility “will include a cutting-edge meat processing and packaging area,” according to a news release from Clayco.
Leaders say the project will add at least 100 new jobs to the St. Louis region while helping Performance Food Group, Inc. grow its operations locally and in the Midwest.
“The development is a strategic growth move for PFG, as it replaces an existing facility in downtown St. Louis and relocates to Ferguson and Berkeley,” said Eli Miller, Vice President of Project Management at Scannell Properties. “Positioned on the border of these two cities, the facility not only contributes to the economic development of the region but also underscores PFG’s commitment to being an integral part of the local community.”
Performance Food Group consists of more than 150 distribution centers across the United States, which serve more than 300,000 locations, according to its website.
The facility is currently on track to open around March 2025 in the NorthPark Development area.
Clayco is providing architectural services through the Lamar Johnson Collaborative. Scannell Properties has helped with development aspects.
