Australian comedian Matt Hey has opened up about the ‘mortifying’ moment an ambulance was called for him moments after boarding a flight to Victoria.

The 29-year-old – also known by his stage name Alright, Hey! – shared some photos to Instagram on Sunday, revealing he had to be removed from a flight due to an emergency.

One picture showed a downbeat looking Matt lying on a stretcher being wheeled into an ambulance and another captured him posing from a hospital bed.

He captioned the gallery with some startling words: ‘Gall stones, probably due to losing weight. To anyone at Sydney Airport, sorry for delaying your flight.

‘I got an ambulance on the tarmac, always a big show.  When I tell you this is the most mortifying that has ever happened to me, I mean it.’

In December 2021, he burst into tears after confirming he had tested positive to Covid-19.

The funnyman, who is beloved online thanks to his hilarious viral videos, revealed on Instagram that he was set to spend Christmas alone in isolation.

After contracting the virus, Matt said he had suffered with a number of severe symptoms including a high fever, fatigue, body aches and restlessness.

Matt – who is double vaccinated – received his positive result after taking a test a day earlier.

He became tearful as he explained how emotional it was to tell his loved ones that he had contracted the virus.

‘A thing to be prepared for if you test positive to Covid – I keep saying Covid as I’m not sure what strain it is yet – is how emotional the process is.

‘Apart from literally coughing and spluttering and all the rest of it, the worst part is how emotional it is to have to tell people who you love, “Hey, I have Covid”,’ he added.
