D-Link Ultra Wi-Fi Routers With 802.11ax Support and More Launched at CES 2018

D-Link has announced the launch of a new range of routers and security cameras at CES 2018. The highlight of the announcement is the DIR-2680 Wi-Fi router that offers protection for IoT devices. Apart from that, D-Link has also unveiled other products such as two mesh networking systems, a couple of Ultra Wi-Fi routers, an LTE security camera, and other standard Wi-Fi cameras.

Developed to protect IoT products, the DIR-2680 router uses McAfee’s Global Threat Intelligence to scout for threats regularly. It also incorporates the Intel Home Wi-Fi WAV500 series to provide Wi-Fi connectivity for up to 128 connected devices. The router claims to offer network level security for most IoT devices, including the ones without a display.

The router provides real-time monitoring, customised parental controls, and machine learning. The DIR-2680 router will be available starting Q2 2018. No pricing details have been revealed.

D-Link Ultra Wi-Fi Routers

Another important announcement from D-Link’s CES event was the unveiling of its new range of Ultra Wi-Fi routers with the new 802.11ax standard. The dual-band AX6000 router supports speeds up to 6000Mbps and the tri-band AX11000 supports speeds up to 11000Mbps.

Both these routers have one 5Gbps WAN port, four Gigabit LAN ports, a USB 3.0 port, and support for MU-MIMO and DLNA. The Ultra Wi-Fi routers will be available in the second half of 2018. Pricing has not been revealed yet.

Asus also took covers off its latest dual-band router that features the new Wi-Fi 802.11ax standards.

The company has also announced two new home Wi-Fi solutions in its COVR range – the 3-pack Dual-Band Home Wi-Fi system (COVR-C1203) and the 2-pack Tri-Band Home Wi-Fi system (COVR-2202). The tri-band variant features AC2200 Wi-Fi and claims a coverage area of 6,000 square feet. On the other hand, the dual-band variant has AC1200 Wi-Fi and offers a coverage area of 5,000 square feet. Both the Wi-Fi systems have MU-MIMO technology, Smart Roaming feature, and push notifications for firmware updates.

The 3-pack Dual-Band COVR-C1203 is priced at $249.99 (roughly Rs. 15,900) and will be available in Q1 2018. The 2-pack Tri-Band COVR-2202 is priced at $319.99 (roughly Rs. 20,400) and will be available in Q2 2018.

LTE Full Indoor/ Outdoor camera

D-Link has also announced a few security cameras in its lineup for CES 2018. The LTE Full Indoor/ Outdoor camera (DCS-1820LH) is meant to work in places where Wi-Fi connectivity is not available. Currently, the security camera will connect to Verizon’s network, in the US, to offer wireless access in non-Wi-Fi areas. It also offers full-HD recording, two-way audio, and cloud backup. The LTE camera has support for Google Assistant, IFTTT, and Amazon Alexa.

The security camera will be available in Q2 2018 at a price of $299.99 (roughly Rs. 19,100).

Wire-Free Full-HD Indoor/ Outdoor camera

With a claimed battery life of over 11 months, the Wire-Free Indoor/ Outdoor Camera (DCS-2802KT) offers both cloud recording and local recording options to allow for a connected security camera system. It features 1080p video recording alongside a 140-degree field of view. The camera also has support for Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and IFTTT.

This security camera will be available in Q2 2018 at a starting price of $219.99 (roughly Rs. 14,000).

Standard Wi-Fi cameras

D-Link has also announced a new range of standard Wi-Fi cameras including the an HD camera (DCS-8010LH), a full-HD Wi-Fi camera (DCS-8300LH), and a full-HD Pan and Tilt Wi-Fi camera (DCS-8525LH) at CES 2018. All the cameras have sound detection, motion detection, and 16-feet night vision. All the security in this range support Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and IFTTT. The HD Wi-Fi camera will be available for a price of $59.99 (roughly Rs. 3,800), the full-HD variant will be available for $89.99 (roughly Rs. 5,700), and the pan and tilt variant will be available for $119.99 (roughly Rs. 7,600) starting Q2 2018.
