Where It Comes From Pigment ?
Pigment green 7 (PG7) is a coloring pigment used in plastics and it’s also found in some food products. It belongs to a larger group of chemicals called phthalates, which are often referred to as plasticizers. In manufacturing PG7 helps transfer color pigments into polymers and stabilizes them against thermal decomposition. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved its use in some foods but not others. Based on that approval, you can find PG7 in chewing gum, hard candy and gelatin desserts like Jell-O pudding. One big source of PG7 exposure comes from soft vinyl nursery products like teething rings. Your baby is unlikely to eat much of these items so they likely won’t be a concern.
