Bruschi puts much of her trimming nous down to her tools. “I achieve Bradley’s haircut mostly by point cutting the hair for texture using Utsumi Shears, which are the best handmade Japanese shears. They elevate my haircuts tremendously.” For product, she uses Balmain Sculpting Wax (“everything Balmain is superb”), Mr Muk Flexible Mud or Virtue 6 in 1 Styling Paste, and finishes with R+Co BLUE Featherlight Hairspray or Balmain Session Spray Strong Hair Spray. “I also keep the Oribe Soft Gel on hand for pre blow out for volume or for a finishing polished look at the end depending on if we go for a classic slick back style.”
Like all the grooming vets, Bruschi makes clear that there’s only so much magic you can work an hour or two before the event. “Staying healthy from the inside out always shows best in photographs,” she says. “And a facial with lymphatic drainage massage to minimise inflammation is very helpful.” Once a client is in her chair, though, it’s all about priming the canvas first and foremost. “A mask is great, as long as they don’t make the skin too shiny,” she says. “I love the 111 Skin Black Diamond and Depuffing sheet masks and eye masks, Jillian Dempsey Eye Masks, Caron Sheet Mask, Jaxon Lane Bro Masks and Tatcha sheet masks.”
The product list is deep and expert. “Tom Ford Beauty Traceless Foundation Sticks, Cle de Peau concealers, Chanel Les Beige Bronzing Powders, and my new favourite is the Sensai Bronzing Gel.” But Brushi is always keen to be covert on Bradley Cooper. There’s no tell-tale signs. “Avoiding makeup on the neck – which will get on the collar of the tuxedo shirt – is very important!”
