Japanese author Toshikazu Kawaguchi to participate in Dubai’s Emirates LitFest 2024|Arab News Japan

DUBAI: Japanese author Toshikazu Kawaguchi, writer of the ‘Before the Coffee Gets Cold’ series, is one of the official speakers at next year’s Dubai’s Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.

Taking place from Jan. 31, 2024, to Feb. 6, 2024, the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, also known as Emirates LitFest, is the Middle East’s biggest literary event that is held annually to celebrate and support the love of literature in the United Arab Emirates from authors worldwide. 

Born in Osaka, Kawaguchi is an author, playwright, and producer who is known for his 2015 novel ‘Before the Coffee Gets Cold’ which follows several characters as they travel back in time before returning when their coffee gets cold. The award-winning novel has sold over a million copies worldwide and has been translated into various languages.

The author has also written other books in the series, such as ‘Tales from the Cafe,’ ‘Before Your Memory Fades,’ and ‘Before We Say Goodbye.’

Kawaguchi’s other works also include ‘Couple,’ ‘Sunset Song,’ and ‘Family Time.’

Additionally, Emirates Litfest will bring a variety of literary figures, including, but not limited to, Korean author and translator Anton Hur, Palestinian-American writer Dana Dajani, and Egyptian poet Ahmed Bakheet. Tickets go on sale on Dec. 14.
