Japanese girl group XG is performing in Abu Dhabi for the Hyperound music festival on November 11th, 2023.
XG, short for Xtraordinary Girls, is a Japanese girl group currently located in South Korea. The seven-member girl group debuted in 2022 with their single “Tippy Toes”. XG are the first ever all Japanese group to enter the US Mediabase top 40 with their single “Shooting Star”. Although the members are all Japanese, they trained according to the K-Pop training system for five years. The band’s digital singles are in English and promote their songs globally.
The group often releases freestyles in Japanese, Korean, and English. A clip of their freestyle “GALZ XYPHER” went viral and members were praised for rapping in all three languages. XG recently made a comeback with a new single titled “GRL GVNG”, which fans can expect to hear during Hyperound. This will be the group’s first performance in the region.
Another band that’s headlining Hyperound this year is ENHYPEN. The group includes one Japanese member, Nishimura Riki, better known by his stage name Niki, who is considered one of the youngest idol to debut.
The K-Pop boy group is extremely popular in Japan and has released two full-length Japanese albums which include original Japanese songs as well as Japanese versions of their Korean songs. Their 2nd Japanese album sold 250,000 copies one month after its release.
They also earned a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) following the release of their Japanese album.
The group is set to release a new Japanese single in September named “結 -You” alongside Japanese versions of their recent songs “Bite Me” and “Bills.” ENHYPEN have also collaborated with Pokémon to release a new song called “One and Only”.
