Police believe the attacker is known to the man, who was a visitor at the house.

Early investigations indicate the altercation was over “money that may have been owed”, Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said.

Other people in the home called triple-0.

The weapon involved in the attack has not been found and Shepherd would not detail the victim’s injuries.

Investigations continue.
