Both heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop and could cause some flooding and travel disruption.
The warning is in place from 9am until 7pm on Wednesday, August 2.
Where heavy showers and thunderstorms do develop, they could be slow-moving and persistent with as much as 20-25mm of rain falling within an hour and possibly 40mm in 2-3 hours in a few places.

The Met Office says lightning and hail will be additional hazards.
What to expect as thunderstorms expected in the north west
In the north west, the following areas are expected to be affected by thunderstorms and heavy showers:
- Cheshire East
- Cheshire West and Chester
- Greater Manchester
- Merseyside
- Halton
- Warrington
What different Met Office weather warnings mean
The Met Office says the thunderstorms could probably cause damage to buildings and structures as lightning is expected to strike.
Those driving will need to be aware that there is a good chance that road conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail leading to longer journeys for those travelling via car or bus.
If you’re travelling by train on Wednesday, delays to services are possible.
A short term loss of power and other services is also likely.
