Newcastle fans have been left stunned after hearing Stockholm-born Alexander Isak’s accent in a video posted by the club.
The 23-year-old joined the Magpies in a club-record £60million deal last summer from Real Sociedad.
Isak netted 10 goals in his first season at the club, helping Newcastle secure a place in the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.
The forward was born in the suburbs of Stockholm and spent time in Germany and the Netherlands as he embarked on his career with Borussia Dortmund and Willem II.
He then moved to Spain before his switch to Tyneside.
And now fans have been left stunned as to how English he actually sounds.
Isak can be seen in conversation with teammates Jamaal Lascelles and Jacob Murphy, in a clip released on Twitter.
The Sweden international speaks with a distinctly English accent, and fans were quick to notice, with some even believing he was from London.
One said: “He’s never sounded like this before. Joe Willock been in his ear too much.”
A second wrote: “I thought he was Swedish? Not from Lewisham?!?”
Another added: “Scandinavians the only area that pick up English accents better than the English.”
A fourth claimed: “He’s from London right.”
