ST. LOUIS – Just weeks after a Busch Stadium brain-teaser stumped three Jeopardy! contestants, the game presented yet another St. Louis-inspired clue that players couldn’t quite solve.
During the Final Jeopardy! round of Thursday’s episode, contestants were quizzed on their knowledge of landmarks. The clue read, “The distance between its 2 legs at ground level is 630 feet, making it as tall as it is wide.”
Sound familiar? The landmark was none other than St. Louis’ Gateway Arch.
Like last month’s Cardinals-themed question, let’s just say not everyone’s area of expertise is St. Louis history. And even for those who know St. Louis, what unfolded should serve as a reminder that we’re all human.
Three contestants, David Bederman, James Tyler, and Diandra D’Alessio, competed in Thursday’s episode. None of them correctly guessed the Gateway Arch in the Final Jeopardy! round. The first two even wagered all of their earnings before the round.

After the three answers, host Ken Jennings stated, “No, this is the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. You can actually inscribe the Arch in a square.”
The Gateway Arch’s X account had quite a humorous response to one screenshot of the final round’s aftermath. Viewers turned to Reddit to discuss the topic as well, some claiming the writing of the clue to be “a little tricky” and questioning the use of “legs” in context.
Diandra played it safe with her wager and ended up winning Thursday’s edition of Jeopardy!, according to a game rundown the show’s website. She will move onto the semifinals for the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions, which will premiere next Friday, Feb. 23.
