- Seating Chart: Longtime Met Gala organizer Eaddy Kiernan told Vogue in 2023 that seating chart designs start in December and are not finished until around a month before the Gala.
- No Selfies: Apparently, to curb the practice of celebrities spending the whole of the evening on their phones, social media use was prohibited at the event.
- No Smoking: At the 2017 Met Gala, several celebrities, including Bella Hadid, Dakota Johnson, and Marc Jacobs, were seen smoking cigarettes in the restroom. In the same year, it was claimed that benefactors and board members were appalled by attendees’ smoking at the event.
