The RAC Dealer Network has become an approved partner to the Independent Motor Dealers Association (IMDA), marking a significant step for both organisations in supporting independent motor dealers.
Lee Coomber, RAC client director at Assurant, which partners with the RAC in the aftersales sector, highlighted the mutual benefits of this collaboration.
“The RAC Dealer Network provides not just high-quality motor warranty products to its 1,400 members – most of whom are independent dealers – but also support in various ways, from sales training and marketing materials to online tools and partnerships with suppliers offering essential dealer services. It’s a holistic offering,” he explained.
He added, “The IMDA shares a similar ethos and a complementary approach. This is not just a typical trade body but one focused on offering practical support to independent dealers, fostering a collegiate, supportive environment that promotes long-term business success.”
To become an approved supplier to the IMDA, the RAC Dealer Network committed to meeting a range of standards ensuring high-quality services for IMDA members.
Umesh Samani, chairman of the IMDA welcomed the RAC Dealer Network: “We already have many members in common and are confident that becoming an approved supplier will encourage more of our dealers to work with the RAC in the future.”
The RAC Dealer Network, comprising over 1,400 used car, van, motorcycle, and motorhome retailers across the UK, serves as the exclusive sales channel for RAC-branded warranty products underwritten by Assurant.
Founded in 2017, the IMDA is the only association in the UK exclusively representing independent motor dealers. As a not-for-profit association with over 1,200 members, all funds raised from partnership fees are used to support members by providing a voice and resources. Members benefit from services such as free advice on consumer law and HR.
